Ingrid Michaelson - The Chain

from Music With My Friends by Paul Palan - Life In Between

about

DESCRIPTION:
My niece Malin, is a returning artist to my Life In Between website. You may recall her first vocal work, "Gift of Love", posted below. We recorded "The Chain" during her same trip to Omaha last August. I just got around to mixing it. We recorded it in about an hour, doing a few takes of certain parts, just in case. I then went back and played all of the accompaniment instruments. I tried to stay faithful to the original recording with only a few exceptions. I added a four part backup choir (me) on the chorus. And at the very end I included a rock organ part and just a few strikes of chimes to emphasize some changes. Again, Malin nails a somewhat difficult song, with her usual poise and artistry. I think you'll enjoy.

lyrics

LYRICS:
The sky looks pissed.
The wind talks back.
The bones are shifting in my skin and you my love are gone.

My room seems wrong.
The bed won't fit.
I can not seem to operate and you my love are gone

(Chorus)
So glide away and so be healed and promise not to promise anymore and if you come around again then i will take, then i will take the chain from off the door

I'll never say, I'll never love
but I don't say a lot of things and you my love are gone

(Chorus)

about

Paul Palan - Life In Between Lincoln, Nebraska

I have been looking for a place to post my songs. I'm glad you found it. I've been playing acoustic guitar and bass for some time. This site for me, is a place to share my music. You'll find mostly original, but also songs that have special meaning to me. Songs that I thought would be neat to record myself. So, take a look around. I'll add more as I finish them. Blessings,
Paul
