DESCRIPTION:
I composed this version of the Lord's Prayer partially out of necessity. I started playing "folk" music in church when I was 13 yrs old. During that time (early 70's), Christian folk music or what would come to be known as "contemporary Christian" music was just in its infancy. Certainly, in the Catholic churches in Philadelphia, the idea of a guitar in church was very new. The amount of music available to use in this setting was very limited. Consequently, there were 2 versions of the Lord's Prayer that were widely used. One popular version was written by Joan Baez. I had a real desire to come up with a version that was both singable and didn't stray too far from the actual words in the prayer. So, while on a family trip to San Diego, I sat down with my "beater" nylon string guitar (think Willie Nelson's guitar) and it just came to me. I then began to use it at church and have sung it many, many times since. However, I've never recorded it before. And I really had never arranged it either. So, this recording has been a long time in the making. I'm delighted to share it with you. Enjoy!
